This website is provided by the Sprague Orchestra Boosters, a 501(c) nonprofit charity dedicated to sustaining the record of achievement by the award-winning Sprague High School Orchestra program. Since 1988, Sprague's string and full orchestras have placed 1st at the OSAA State Competition 24 times, won 5 International and invitational competitions, and contributed to the awarding of 4 Grammy Signature School distinctions. A full list of the awards can be found here.
The tradition of excellence at Sprague owes itself to Karl Raschkes, the Salem-Keizer (24J) School District Music Supervisor, Stephen Nelson, the Sprague Director of Orchestras from 1987 to 2006, and Dijana Ihas, the current Director of Orchestras, who in her maiden year took the venerable Camerata orchestra to a share of first place at the state championships and followed up with a consecutive and exclusive victory in 2010.
The Sprague Orchestra Boosters is a parent/guardian volunteer-led and -run organization with a Board of Directors that meets monthly on the second Thursday. To learn more about booster activities, visit the Boosters page. Events such as meetings, performances, and fundraisers can be found on the Events page.
